Soda Can Flowers Anyone?!

Hello EveryCraftyOne!

So I was rummaging around in my Stuff and came across my pretty metal soda can flowers and just had to take a photo of them and show you.... so I did. I splashed them on Instagram (myartsandparts), Twitter (myartsandparts), Tumblr (myartsandparts) and FB, yup (myartsandparts) and I got a whole lot of you asking me to do a You Tube video (myartsandparts). LOL

I don't know about you, but I love me some happy color in the winter when it's bleak as all get out outside. I put my flowers in a button jar, look hard and you'll see the buttons! They are now sitting atop one of my vintage cabinets where I store my paints right within eyeshot... LOVE them!

So I'm sitting here thinking just how to go about it so it's not 3 hours long! I'm going to work on that this evening and I hope to start filming tomorrow. Maybe I can write up a short tut for my blog too! I'll give it my best shot. MAYBE.
Right now it's hard to type, Miss Madison, my 2 year old mini schnoodle insists I hold her. Could you resist this face?

Alrighty, off I go to set myself up for tomorrow. All part of my BIGGER plan to be more productive, reach some of my goals and make more videos!

Happy Tuesday Nite everyone!

I'm all about helping a fellow artist out and I loved the idea of using a card to spark my creativity!
The cards are beautiful and there is some wonderful artwork on them as well! The idea sparks on the back are well written and definitely sparked my imagination.

The card I decided to try reads as follows:
Make a 3 inch cardboard square. Cut off each corner, varying the type of cuts you use. Now use your cardboard square as a stencil, place it randomly throughout your page. Next, fill your space with color. What do you see?
You can see all the steps and exactly what I did on my You Tube channel here:

I decided to work in my Delusions Journal. I started with a piece of sturdy cardboard, 3 inch square and then cut off the corners to make an interesting shape. The next step I used a pencil and outlined the shape randomly all over my page.
After outlining with a pencil I decided to use my Pitt Pens and outline over the pencil marks. Although I had quite a lot of my pens out, I decided at this point to stick with a color scheme and used, Pink, Green, Teal and Yellow.

Now that I had some color down, I said to myself, oh, draw in some lines with the Pitt pen, however.... I did not like the thick Pitt pen lines so one bad decision after another, and LOL
I wound up with.... and I didn't like this either, SO...

I colored in the shape as you can see below.... I did not let it discourage me, after all I was playing and experimenting so I kept going. For the time being I decided to ignore the big green shape on my page!

That's when I picked up my Gelly Roll pens, Oh how I love my Gelly Rolls and life suddenly became satisfying and before long I was immersed in doodling and tangling.

I filled in the shapes with random lines and just had fun!

Then I pulled out my Tombow Watercolor markers because I needed to fill in some of the shapes with color to make up for the GREEN one smack in the middle! (and you all KNOW, I LOVE GREEN)

Well, here's my finished Doodle below. I also went around the edges of some of the squares with black hoping to achieve a little better balance. After all the experimenting, I am happy with the outcome. I was thinking I could copy the page and cut out the shapes for collage?
All in all I did enjoy the process and it all started with that 3 inch square!

Hope you will give the Art Sparks Cards a try too. Here's a 10% off coupon code you can use until November 30, 2016.

Oui, Can She do it?

Hello Friends!

I am going to make another attempt at blogging. I try and I try and I try and I really want to do this but somehow my life always gets in the way! I'm going to write it down in my bullet journal and set it up to meet you here at least once a week. I think I can I think I can.... :-)

Alrighty.... So the last time I blogged I told you about my visit with my sister... I have SO much to catch up on with you but I think I better start where I am right now and add in as thoughts come to me!!!

Currently I'm working with some fabulous ladies, we've joined forces and we are forces to be reckoned with! Each of us has a Facebook page and our focuses are all so different it would be cool if you checked us all out, something to offer just about everyone! We call ourselves the Sister Groups and in case you don't know what I'm talking about I'll list them and the links below:

Of course there's me,
My Arts and Parts ~ https://www.facebook.com/groups/MyArtsandParts/

A life of Art and Self Expression is Gina B Ahrens ~ https://www.facebook.com/groups/alifeofartandselfexpression/

Cindy Utter owns Artsy Endeavors ~ https://www.facebook.com/groups/IAmAJournalingJourney/

And last but not least is our Anne Williamson, her page is called
Anneliese's Mixed Media Everything!   https://www.facebook.com/groups/1561515894162308/

So right now we are working on a BIG project for next year, Gina's idea, she's the ring leader/troublemaker! LOL The idea is a FREE year long Art Journaling class and each of us is doing something a bit different and WOW if you have not already checked it out, please do so. You can either go to my FB page or my You Tube channel. Look for "A Year of Self Expression 2017". Mine is about Bullet Journaling, planning, goal setting, organization AND recycling! I'm using an old Sewing book from the 80's and repurposing it....

Oh, there's ONE catch, you must belong to at least one, if not all of our FB groups. Probably not a bad idea to belong to all as we are all doing something a bit different and you might miss out on some cool stuff.

Ok, that's enough information for now, you will have to go take a look for yourself and here's a link.... Part One is show and share of my Old Journaling Systems.  So far there's three parts up and waiting for you to watch. We thought we'd get an early start on it so you have plenty of time to decide what you want to do. Officially it will start January 1, 2017. The videos are currently set to public but after the 1st will be private for the FB groups only and remember it's FREE! Oh and there's plenty of FREE downloads to go with the class. Please do check it out and let me know what you think!

Big Blessed Hugs to you!

What's New? And a FREE How to Make my Recycled Paper Flowers!

Hi Everybody!!!

Well, the last time I wrote was to catch up and let you know I was going to try to write more here.... Right after I left you a message I jetted off to Florida to see my sissy poo.... What FUN we had! It was just the two of us and we did art ALL WEEK! To see what we worked on you can view my You Tube video I made while I was there. (Hint: it was a Wallpaper Journal!)

Here's my sissy in her art room..... say hi Laraine!

It was VERY impromptu and I didn't edit it. However, it's not very long, maybe 10 minutes and you might enjoy seeing the journals we worked on.
Mine is made from mostly wallpaper, yup.... and I tried to work outside my comfort zone of using "GREEN"! LOL I love green!!!

I decided to try neutrals and boy am I happy about the way it turned out! It's not finished, I'm still trying to decide what to put on the inside cover and then I will do a flip through on my You Tube channel.

Here's the link.... for my video in Florida

So I'm super excited to tell you about two things... if my Florida trip wasn't enough!
I joined Kiala Givehands, "The Journey Within" class. It's a year long class and each month we make a new journal and Kiala has special guest teachers a few times a month to give us some art journaling lesson to stretch us and there's a month long prompt too and the best part that I totally LOVE is the monthly virtual meet up that she has. Whoever can show up there does show and tell of the journals or projects they are working on AND we get to ask LIVE questions if we need help and it is just the MOST FUN!
Check her out, you will NOT be sorry!
The Journey Within: A Year of Handmade Art Journals

OK so the REALLY cool part is that Kiala asked me if she could feature my "Leathery Paper Making" video that I made on You Tube...  and well.... YOWSA! was I excited about that! Use this link to see that video.

So I did say two things, right? The second is that I've been wanting to share with my internet friends how I make my Recycled Paper Flowers. I just finished that video today and it's actually uploading as I type!!!!

I'll pop the link in when it's done loading and I hope you enjoy it! You will need to watch the Leathery Paper one first, as we use that paper to make the flowers.

Recycled Paper Flowers You Tube Video here

If you love it... and you want to try making some flowers I made a few packages of the findings I used and put them in my Etsy shop. Sometimes it's easier to just get a few things to try something out before you go too crazy.

Well, that's it for today friends. As usual I hope you have a blessed day and do something arty today!

Big hugs from me!

If you want to keep in touch, please hit the Follow Me button at the top right of the page, OR you can follow me by email (on the left side at the top) thanks so much for being here!

Getting back to it!

Hello my arty friends!

It's been quite awhile since I've written on my blog, a lot has happened to me since that last post... I lost my mom last year and am still not over it, will I ever really?
We were VERY close and I miss her dearly. She lived in a little house on my property and we saw each other every day. I have so many years to be thankful for though, she lived to 98 years old and for that I am blessed.

So I wanted to tell you that I belong and co-Administrate a few wonderful Facebook groups, one is called A Life of Art and Self Expression, this group belongs to Gina B Ahrens. The second group is Artsy Endeavours and Cindy Sines Utter owns that one. There are 4 Admins, myself, Gina, Cindy and Michelle Mitchell that take care of the groups. It is great fun!
Well, Gina is the reason I'm writing today... she recently asked me to be one of her Design Team Members. She is a fabulous artist and has her own Rubber Stamp line... She asked for all my online contacts and I realized I had forgotten all about this blog I started, one thing led to another and here I am!

Also, before my mom passed I started a You tube channel, yes, My Arts and Parts, and well, have not been doing many videos since then but that is one of the things I hope to change. I LOVE to share and I have so many ideas!!

I started my own Facebook page too, called, My Arts and Parts. If you decide to join that you can sell your artwork and your art supplies that you no longer use or bought too much of....

You can actually find me in lots of places online now and I will be sure to post all the links real soon. Right now I'm getting ready to go see my beautiful sister who lives in warm and sunny Florida! When I get back next week I will post again and plan out how I will use this blog. I certainly hope to share with you what my future plans are... as I said in the beginning, I have a lot going on!

So my arty friends, much love to you,
Please consider subscribing and have a blessed day!!
